Enjoying the sun

After last week's nasty weather and some sick kiddos, we're happy to be out of the house and catching some rays!

Pool or beach?  Tide pools!

Celebrate!

Can't believe it's already been a year!

My last bump picture

Isaac Louis - 9lb 3oz

We had a great party!  He's our last baby and it feels incredible to be closing this chapter of our lives, so I might have gone a little overboard.

The birthday boy

I was frustrated by my kitchen and the weather (I could not get cookies to bake properly and I was constantly fighting for fridge space.  Plus, I had other cookie dough that wouldn't roll out because of the heat and all the frosting, even the store bought stuff, kept melting - ug!!), but I think everything came together in the end.

Celebrating with friends was amazing!

Crabby day at the beach

Taking full advantage of yesterday's beautiful weather, we visited Courtney Beach.  An interesting shell caught my eye while I was looking for sea glass.  I picked it and surprise! it was a hermit crab!

Owen had fun watching little crabby scurry around in the sand bucket.  (A funny side note: When Owen says crab it comes out closer to crap.  So he keeps saying "We found a crap. We found a crap."  That's my boy!)

Last time we were at the beach, Owen wasn't having anything to do with the ocean.  After a little hesitation this time (the waves rushing out scared him), he joined Isaac in the tide pools.

Splash!

Setting little crabby free

Hoping our entire summer is made up of days like this!

Kadena Half Marathon

Uh oh!  A new half marathon on Kadena:

Should I run it?  No.  Do I want to run it?  Hells ya!  I haven't done a half marathon since 2010's Historic Half. But my longest run recently has been 7 miles.  Hmmmm, very tempting...

Politicking

Signs for candidates Moriyuki and Sueko

Really hope the local election is over soon.  Vans calling out political ads go through our neighborhood about once an hour.  Although I am impressed that it's a real person doing all that talking (verses the looped recording of the ishiyakiimo truck), there's only so many times a person can hear "yoroshiku onegai itashimasu" before getting grouchy.

Chris is famous!

I was reading through the Hood to Coast handbook (wow! can't believe all the new night safety requirements! I thought it was bad enough wearing a vest and taking a flashlight), when surprise, surprise, who do I see??

Chris on page 17 of the 2012 HTC Handbook

That's my picture of Chris somewhere around leg 31 or 32 from 2007.  How cool!

Araha Beach

These pictures are from a few weeks ago, but I'm finally getting around to posting them.

Araha Beach at sunset

The ship playground

This beach seems to be very popular and crowded, so we don't go very often.  I've also heard this running path is nice (it loops around Chatan Park and follows the beach).  I haven't tested it out yet because I worry the double jogger will be too wide and in other people's way.

We ended the evening with another trip to Gen.  I love their teriyaki beef bowl!
